If you’re looking for anything ranging from Conceal And Carry to Concealed Carry Online you’re at the right site! Felton Training Group is well known providers of conceal weapons permit classes for Virginia but also several other states like Oregon, Wyoming, and Iowa. A great number of individuals who visit out site have concerns about – What does it mean to have a concealed carry permit? Owning a concealed carry permit means that you’re allowed to carry a handgun in your person or in a close proximity to you in public places. State jurisdictions vary significantly about this issue so it is essential that you know what rules are being practiced in your locality.

In certain localities, the concealed carry permit is not only applicable to lethal weapons but also to other self-defense products like pepper sprays. However, in all fifty states, carrying guns is normally permissible although doing so is subject to a few regulations.

There are four permitting policies imposed in each state and an individual’s ability to bring a concealed weapon is subject to these policies. These are:

  1. Unrestricted

Only a few states allow unrestricted concealed weapon licenses, which indicates no permission is needed to carry a handgun. One can bring a gun at his sole discretion.

  1. Shall-issue

Under this policy, a permit is required to bring a concealed gun but there will be no restriction in awarding of these permits. Anybody may request for it and be granted.

  1. May-issue

Here, the permit to carry a concealed handgun is issued by the local authorities.

  1. No issue

In no-issue states, nobody is permitted to carry a concealed weapon in public areas.

Should You Get A Conceal Gun Certification?

Generally speaking, carrying a concealed firearm in public places is allowed across 50 states. But then again, many states require a permit to do so. While you do have the option to skip the licensing phase and just carry a firearm as you wish, there are a lot of benefits to doing the paperwork.

Carrying guns is a tremendous responsibility. It’s only right for its use to be bound by laws. If you possess a weapon for the purpose of self-defense, then you must be responsible enough to understand when to bring it and when to keep it. Protecting yourself or your loved ones must be everybody’s priority.

But since the laws regarding concealed carry may change from one state to another, having a permit assures you peace of mind at all times. This is specifically true if you always go from one city to another and the rules about bringing firearms may change drastically.

A license is the proof that you’re a law-abiding citizen and you do not carry a weapon for no reason at all. Having the necessary permits shows that you have nothing to hide and you are using the handgun exactly as how you intended it. The background check that’s normally required when asking for a permit shows your pure intentions. If you would like more details, please check out at out blog.

Maintaining skills after receiving a Concealed Carry Permit

So you’ve completed your concealed carry training course, received your permit to carry and bought a gun. Now what? Just because you have a permit, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep up with your training. The more time that passes, the more we forget. Often the time for self-defense comes when you least expect it and you always want to be prepared. Let’s discuss the best approach to keeping up with your skills after you have received your concealed carry permit.

How often should you train?

Of course, the best answer to this is as much a possible. Now everybody has a busy schedule and making it to the range as often as we’d like is never an easy task. However, having your concealed carry permit is a big responsibility and keeping up with your training is very important. If you are not going to keep up with your training you may want to reconsider the decision to carry. Anyway, if you do plan on carrying, we recommend visiting the gun range at a bare minimum of one to two times per month. If you can, try to go once per week. Remember the more the better, many people practice and train every day. There’s no such thing as over-training!

What to practice when you’re at the range?

When you are first learning to shoot, you are often working on the basic principles or fundamentals, such as keeping a proper stance and grip, breathing techniques and sight alignment. Once you are comfortable with the basics though, it is time to practice more practical techniques for self-defense. Learning skills such as double taps, quick draws, high and low positioning, quick reloads and shooting on the move are examples of useful techniques should that self-defense situation ever arise. Consider taking an advanced course to learn the basics of self-defense with a firearm and then follow up with practice on your own. Be aware of range rules though as different firearm ranges often have different rules regarding allowing quick draws, rapid firing or other types of self-defense training.

When to maintain your equipment?

It is often recommended to clean your firearm after every visit to the range. Now especially if the gun you brought to the range is the same gun you carry or have for self-defense. If that is the case, I would be extra vigilant about maintaining it. Remember, a gun jam at the wrong time could cost lives! My advice: clean and oil it every time you shoot or if its not being used, every several months at a minimum! Ammo kept in a magazine should be replaced every 3 months and ammo kept in cardboard boxes should be replaced annually. Don’t trust your life to old corroded ammunition. Old ammo may typically be discarded at any police station, sheriff’s office, fire station or gunsmith.

Remember, getting that concealed carry permit is just a first step. Following up with your training and maintaining your equipment is just as important! Stay on top of it, work hard and always be prepared!
