Felton Training Group is well recognized providers of conceal weapons certification courses for VA but also many other states like Oregon, Wyoming, and Iowa. Many who visit out site have questions about – What does it mean to have a concealed carry permit? Owning a concealed carry permit suggests that you’re allowed to bring a gun in your person or in a close proximity to you in public areas. State jurisdictions vary greatly on this matter so it’s essential that you know what laws are being enforced in your city.

In some areas, the concealed carry permit is not only applied to guns but also to other self-defense products such as chemical sprays. However, in all 50 states, carrying guns is generally permissible although doing so is still under certain regulations.

There are 4 licensing policies imposed in each state and a person’s ability to carry a concealed weapon may be subject to these guidelines. These are:

  1. Unrestricted

Only a handful states allow unrestricted concealed weapon licenses, which means no permission has to be sought to carry a handgun. A person can bring a gun at his sole discretion.

  1. Shall-issue

Under this restriction, a license is necessary to bring a concealed handgun but there are no restriction in giving out these licenses. Any individual may request for it and be granted.

  1. May-issue

Here, the permit to carry a concealed gun is issued by the police.

  1. No issue

In no-issue states, no one is allowed to bring a gun in public areas.

Why You Should Get A Conceal Weapons Permit?

Technically speaking, carrying a concealed handgun in public areas is permitted across fifty states. But then, a majority of them require a permit to do so. Although you do have the freedom to skip applying for a permit and just carry a gun as you wish, there are several advantages to going through the paperwork.

Carrying weapons is a huge responsibility. It’s only right that using it is bound by the law. If you own a handgun for the purpose of self-defense, then you have to be responsible enough to understand when to use it or when to keep it. Protecting yourself and your loved ones must be everyone’s priority.

But since the laws surrounding concealed carry can change from one county to another, having a license gives you peace of mind at all times. This is specifically true if you tend to drive from one city to the next and the laws about bringing weapons may change drastically.

The license is the proof that you’re a responsible person and you do not carry a handgun for no reason. Holding the required licenses indicates that you have nothing to hide and you are using the weapon exactly as how you intended it. The background check that’s normally needed when filing for a permit shows your pure intentions. If you would like more info, please visit at out blog.
