Having a concealed carry permit means that you are allowed to bring a weapon in your person or anywhere near you in public areas. State jurisdictions vary greatly on this matter so it’s essential that you learn what rules are being enforced in your state.

In some localities, the concealed carry permit is not only applicable to lethal weapons but also to other self-defense devices like pepper sprays. However, in all fifty states, carrying guns is generally allowed but doing so is still under a handful of regulations.

There are 4 permitting policies enforced in each state and a person’s ability to bring a concealed weapon may be subject to these policies. These are:

  1. Unrestricted

Only a few states issue unrestricted concealed weapon permits, which indicates no permission has to be sought to carry a handgun. One can do so at his own discretion.

  1. Shall-issue

Under this guideline, a license is necessary to bring a concealed gun but there are no restriction in giving out these licenses. Any person may apply for one and be granted.

  1. May-issue

Here, the license to carry a concealed gun is granted by the police.

  1. No issue

In no-issue states, nobody is permitted to bring a handgun in public places.

Why You Should Get A Conceal Weapons Certification?

Generally speaking, carrying a concealed gun in public areas is permitted in all fifty states. But then again, some of them require a license to do so. Even though you do have the freedom to avoid the licensing phase and just bring a firearm as you wish, there are a lot of benefits to doing the paperwork.

Bringing guns is a big responsibility. It’s only proper for its use to be bound by laws. If you own a firearm for issues protection, then you have to be responsible enough to know when to use it and when to keep it. Securing yourself or your loved ones must be everyone’s priority.

But because the laws regarding concealed carry can be different from one city to another, having a license assures you peace of mind all the time. This is specially true if you tend to go from one city to another and the laws about bringing firearms may change drastically.

A license is the proof that you’re a law-abiding person and you do not bring a weapon for no reason. Having the necessary licenses shows that you have nothing to hide and you are using the handgun exactly as how you intended it. The background check that is usually needed when filing for a permit speaks highly of your pure intentions. If you would like more details, please visit at out blog.

Would Stricter Gun Laws Actually Curb Gun Violence in America?

There has been much debate recently with the upcoming election about gun laws in America. Some politicians and their supporters believe tightening gun laws would make a big difference in reducing gun violence in our country. On the other hand, some believe adding and tightening gun laws would infringe on our rights without making a significant difference on gun violence. Many of this school of thought believe focusing the attention instead on mental health would make more of a difference. Recently the New York Times published a study examining America’s worst shootings in 2015. They examined all 130 shootings in 2015 in which, “four or more people were shot, at least one fatally, and investigators identified at least one attacker”.

The findings of the study were as follows:

  • “In more than half the 130 cases, at least one assailant was already barred by federal law from having a weapon, usually because of a felony conviction”
  • “64 percent of the shootings involved at least one attacker who violated an existing gun law”.
  • “Of the remaining assailants, 40 percent had never had a serious run-in with the law and probably could have bought a gun even in states with the strictest firearm controls”.
  • “Only 14 shootings involved assault rifles, illustrating their outsize role in the gun debate. Nearly every other assailant used a handgun. That is in line with a federal study that concluded that reviving a 1994 ban on assault weapons and ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds would have a minimal impact, at best, on gun violence”.

From this study along with many others, it is easy to conclude that criminals typically do not follow the law. As you can see, in the majority of these shootings the attacker violated an existing gun law. It’s true, criminals do violate laws, so enforcing our current gun laws may do far more than adding new ones ever could! Not to mention, we can do this without infringing on our second amendment rights! To me the answer is simple, focusing on mental health and enforcing our existing laws will help make this country a much safer place than adding new gun laws could.
