So as to be permitted to bring a gun, an individual has to request a license first. This is true in many states. And one of their requirements for granting a permit is finishing a CCW training course and passing the required exam. But then, the exam may be taken over the internet. That is the reason why there are online CCW classes available as well.

But are these online CCW classes legit? In a few states, they are. In Virginia for instance, it’s generally possible to take such classes and exams online. The classes will teach you basic gun usage, how to clean the weapon, how to use it safely, and all the applicable rules related to its use. The online training available in Virginia takes advantage of the internet so it becomes easier for anybody to ask for a permit without attending long classroom sessions or even using the gun.

But then, this may not be applicable in other places. Some states require one to physically go into a firing range and learn using the handgun. They should also learn how to clean it and store it safely. They should  abide by rules as well. So before you take online CCW classes, do your research first. Are these classes accredited in your city? Would the online completion certificate be admissible to the local authorities?

Can I Get A Conceal Firearm Certification Online?

In some localities, requesting a concealed carry permit online is possible. However, it also means that you must pass the test that the state mandates. If you are not an expert handgun owner, acing that exam may be hard. You may either take it many times or actually learn how to use a weapon before you apply for a license.

Note that not all states offer concealed carry licenses online. Know for sure if your locality is included in the list that accepts online application. If it is, then go through the requirements that you have to submit so as to qualify for the permit.

In cities where online permits are offered, the entire process is as simple as these 4 steps:

  1. Apply for the license and cover the necessary charges.
  2. Go through the online course provided.
  3. Ace the exam after completing the training.
  4. Get your license.

Though these procedures are generally straightforward, you must first learn if the license that you are applying for is truly accredited in your state. There are deceitful companies operating today that trick people into believing that they’ll be getting state licenses, only to receive an irrelevant certification of completion at the end of the training. Would Stricter Gun Laws Actually Curb Gun Violence in America?

There has been much debate recently with the upcoming election about gun laws in America. Some politicians and their supporters believe tightening gun laws would make a big difference in reducing gun violence in our country. On the other hand, some believe adding and tightening gun laws would infringe on our rights without making a significant difference on gun violence. Many of this school of thought believe focusing the attention instead on mental health would make more of a difference. Recently the New York Times published a study examining America’s worst shootings in 2015. They examined all 130 shootings in 2015 in which, “four or more people were shot, at least one fatally, and investigators identified at least one attacker”.

The findings of the study were as follows:

  • “In more than half the 130 cases, at least one assailant was already barred by federal law from having a weapon, usually because of a felony conviction”
  • “64 percent of the shootings involved at least one attacker who violated an existing gun law”.
  • “Of the remaining assailants, 40 percent had never had a serious run-in with the law and probably could have bought a gun even in states with the strictest firearm controls”.
  • “Only 14 shootings involved assault rifles, illustrating their outsize role in the gun debate. Nearly every other assailant used a handgun. That is in line with a federal study that concluded that reviving a 1994 ban on assault weapons and ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds would have a minimal impact, at best, on gun violence”.

From this study along with many others, it is easy to conclude that criminals typically do not follow the law. As you can see, in the majority of these shootings the attacker violated an existing gun law. It’s true, criminals do violate laws, so enforcing our current gun laws may do far more than adding new ones ever could! Not to mention, we can do this without infringing on our second amendment rights! To me the answer is simple, focusing on mental health and enforcing our existing laws will help make this country a much safer place than adding new gun laws could.
