So as to be permitted to bring a gun, one has to request a license first. This is true in many states. And one of their requirements for granting a permit is finishing a CCW training course and passing the required test. But then, the test may be taken over the internet. That is why there are online CCW classes offered nowadays.

But are these online CCW classes legit? In certain states, they are. In Virginia for example, it is generally acceptable to take such classes and tests online. The classes will teach students basic handgun usage, how to clean the weapon, how to use it safely, and all the applicable guidelines related to its usage. The online training available in Virginia uses the internet so it becomes easier for anyone to file for a permit without having to attend lengthy classroom sessions or even firing a gun.

However, this may not be true in other cities. Some places require a person to physically go into a firing range and learn firing a weapon. They must also learn how to clean it and use it safely. They should  abide by laws too. So before you take online CCW classes, do your research first. Are the training sessions accredited in your city? Will the online completion certificate be admissible to the local authorities?

Can Uoi Get A Conceal Weapons Permit Online?

In some localities, requesting a concealed carry permit over the internet is possible. But then, it also means that you must pass the exam that the board mandates. Unless you are an expert handgun owner, passing that exam could be difficult. You may either take it many times or really experience how to fire a handgun prior to applying for a license.

Remember that not all states offer concealed carry licenses online. Know for certain if your locality is part of the list that accepts over-the-internet application. If it is, then validate the requirements that you need to do so as to qualify for the permit.

In counties where online permits are offered, the entire process can be as simple as these 4 steps:

  1. File for the license and cover the required charges.
  2. Go through the online training provided.
  3. Complete the test after completing the course.
  4. Get your license.

Though these procedures are fairly easy-to-follow, you must first learn if the license that you’re requesting is entirely accredited in your state. Would Stricter Gun Laws Actually Curb Gun Violence in America?

There has been much debate recently with the upcoming election about gun laws in America. Some politicians and their supporters believe tightening gun laws would make a big difference in reducing gun violence in our country. On the other hand, some believe adding and tightening gun laws would infringe on our rights without making a significant difference on gun violence. Many of this school of thought believe focusing the attention instead on mental health would make more of a difference. Recently the New York Times published a study examining America’s worst shootings in 2015. They examined all 130 shootings in 2015 in which, “four or more people were shot, at least one fatally, and investigators identified at least one attacker”.

The findings of the study were as follows:

  • “In more than half the 130 cases, at least one assailant was already barred by federal law from having a weapon, usually because of a felony conviction”
  • “64 percent of the shootings involved at least one attacker who violated an existing gun law”.
  • “Of the remaining assailants, 40 percent had never had a serious run-in with the law and probably could have bought a gun even in states with the strictest firearm controls”.
  • “Only 14 shootings involved assault rifles, illustrating their outsize role in the gun debate. Nearly every other assailant used a handgun. That is in line with a federal study that concluded that reviving a 1994 ban on assault weapons and ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds would have a minimal impact, at best, on gun violence”.

From this study along with many others, it is easy to conclude that criminals typically do not follow the law. As you can see, in the majority of these shootings the attacker violated an existing gun law. It’s true, criminals do violate laws, so enforcing our current gun laws may do far more than adding new ones ever could! Not to mention, we can do this without infringing on our second amendment rights! To me the answer is simple, focusing on mental health and enforcing our existing laws will help make this country a much safer place than adding new gun laws could.
