So as to be permitted to bring a handgun, a person has to apply for a permit first. This is the case in many states. And among their requirements for giving out a permit is taking a CCW training course and acing the necessary exam. However, the exam may be taken over the internet. That is why there are online CCW classes offered these days.

But are these online CCW classes legal? In certain states, they are. In Virginia for example, it is generally possible to take these classes and tests online. The online training will teach students basic weapon usage, how to clean the weapon, how to use it safely, and all the applicable rules related to its usage. The online CCW classes available in Virginia utilizes the internet so it becomes easier for anyone to request a license without attending lengthy classroom sessions or even using the gun.

But then again, this may not be true in other places. Some counties require one to physically go into a firing range and experience firing the handgun. They should also learn how to clean it and use it safely. They must  abide by rules as well. So before you take online CCW classes, perform a research first. Are the training sessions accredited in your state? Will your online completion certificate be accepted by the local authorities?

Should You Get A Conceal Firearm Certification Online?

There’re some localities, asking for a concealed carry permit online is possible. But then again, that also means that you must pass the test that the state requires. Unless you are an expert weapon owner, passing the test could be hard. You may either take it several times or actually learn how to use a weapon before you apply for a license.

Remember that not all states offer concealed carry permits over the internet. Know for sure if your city is part of the list that accepts over-the-internet application. If it does, then check the requirements that you have to do so as to qualify for the permit.

In localities where online permits are offered, the whole process is as simple as these four steps:

  1. File for the permit and cover the required fees.
  2. Take the online course provided.
  3. Pass the exam after completing the course.
  4. Secure your certificate.

Even though these procedures are fairly simple, you must first know if the license that you’re filing for is entirely accredited in your state. There are dishonest companies operating these days that lead people into believing that they will be acquiring state licenses, only to receive an irrelevant certification of completion at the end of the test.
