In order to be allowed to bring a firearm, one has to request a license first. This is true in most states. And one of their requirements for issuing a permit is finishing a CCW training course and passing the required exam. But then, the test may be taken over the internet. That is why there are online CCW classes offered nowadays.

But are these online CCW classes legal? In some states, they are. In Virginia for example, it is technically acceptable to take these classes and exams online. The online training will teach you basic handgun usage, how to clean the weapon, how to use it safely, and all the applicable rules related to its usage. The online training available in Virginia takes advantage of the internet so it’s easier for anyone to file for a license without attending long classroom sessions or even using a gun.

However, this may not be applicable in other cities. Some places require a person to physically enter a firing range and experience firing the gun. They must also learn how to maintain it and use it safely. They should  abide by laws as well. So prior to taking online CCW classes, perform a research first. Are the training sessions accredited in your state? Would your online completion document be accepted by the local authorities?

Can I Get A Conceal Handgun Certification Online?

There’re some states, applying for a concealed carry permit online is possible. But then, that also means that you must pass the exam that the board requires. Unless you’re an experienced firearm owner, passing that exam could be hard. You may either retake the test several times or actually learn how to fire a weapon prior to applying for a license.

Note that not all states offer concealed carry permits online. Understand for sure if your state is part of the list that accepts over-the-internet application. If it is, then validate the requirements that you have to do in order to qualify for the permit.

In localities where online licenses are provided, the entire process is as straightforward as these 4 steps:

  1. File for the permit and cover the necessary charges.
  2. Take the online training provided.
  3. Pass the examination after completing the training.
  4. Get your certificate.

Though these procedures are generally simple, you must first know if the license that you are applying for is entirely accredited in your state. There are unscrupulous companies operating today that trick people into believing that they will be securing state licenses, only to receive a useless certification of completion at the end of the course.
