In order to be permitted to bring a handgun, one has to apply for a permit first. This is the case in most states. And among their requirements for issuing a permit is taking a CCW training course and acing the required examination. But then, the test may be taken over the internet. That is why there are online CCW classes available these days.

But are these online CCW classes legal? In a few states, they are. In Virginia for example, it’s generally possible to take the classes and tests online. The online training will teach you basic gun usage, how to clean the handgun, how to use it safely, and all the applicable mandates related to its usage. The online training available in Virginia utilizes the internet so it is easier for anybody to ask for a permit without attending long classroom sessions or even using the gun.

However, this may not be applicable in other counties. Some cities require a person to physically go into a firing range and experience firing the gun. They must also learn how to maintain it and store it safely. They must  follow all rules too. So prior to taking online CCW classes, make a research first. Are the training sessions accredited in your locality? Will the online completion certificate be admissible to the local authorities?

Can I Get A Conceal Gun Certification Online?

There’re some localities, filing for a concealed carry permit online is possible. But then again, that also means that you must ace the exam that the state mandates. If you are not an experienced weapon owner, passing the exam could be difficult. You may either take the test many times or really learn how to use a handgun before you apply for a license.

Note that not all states offer concealed carry licenses over the internet. Understand for sure if your county is part of the list that accepts online application. If it does, then go through the requirements that you have to do in order to qualify for the permit.

In counties where online licenses are offered, the entire process can be as straightforward as these four steps:

  1. File for the license and cover the necessary fees.
  2. Go through the online training provided.
  3. Complete the exam at the end of the course.
  4. Secure your permit.

Even though these steps are generally simple, you should first know if the permit that you are requesting is completely accredited in your state. There are deceitful companies over the internet nowadays that trick people into believing that they’ll be acquiring state permits, only to receive an irrelevant certification of completion at the end of the exam. Would Stricter Gun Laws Actually Curb Gun Violence in America?

There has been much debate recently with the upcoming election about gun laws in America. Some politicians and their supporters believe tightening gun laws would make a big difference in reducing gun violence in our country. On the other hand, some believe adding and tightening gun laws would infringe on our rights without making a significant difference on gun violence. Many of this school of thought believe focusing the attention instead on mental health would make more of a difference. Recently the New York Times published a study examining America’s worst shootings in 2015. They examined all 130 shootings in 2015 in which, “four or more people were shot, at least one fatally, and investigators identified at least one attacker”.

The findings of the study were as follows:

  • “In more than half the 130 cases, at least one assailant was already barred by federal law from having a weapon, usually because of a felony conviction”
  • “64 percent of the shootings involved at least one attacker who violated an existing gun law”.
  • “Of the remaining assailants, 40 percent had never had a serious run-in with the law and probably could have bought a gun even in states with the strictest firearm controls”.
  • “Only 14 shootings involved assault rifles, illustrating their outsize role in the gun debate. Nearly every other assailant used a handgun. That is in line with a federal study that concluded that reviving a 1994 ban on assault weapons and ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds would have a minimal impact, at best, on gun violence”.

From this study along with many others, it is easy to conclude that criminals typically do not follow the law. As you can see, in the majority of these shootings the attacker violated an existing gun law. It’s true, criminals do violate laws, so enforcing our current gun laws may do far more than adding new ones ever could! Not to mention, we can do this without infringing on our second amendment rights! To me the answer is simple, focusing on mental health and enforcing our existing laws will help make this country a much safer place than adding new gun laws could.
