And among their requirements for issuing a permit is finishing a CCW training course and acing the necessary test. But then, the exam may be taken over the internet. That is the reason why there are online CCW classes offered these days.

But are such online CCW classes legal? In certain states, they are. In Virginia for example, it is generally possible to take such classes and examinations online. The online training will teach you basic gun usage, how to clean the weapon, how to use it safely, and all the applicable rules related to its use. The online training offered in Virginia utilizes the internet so it’s easier for anybody to request a license without attending long classroom sessions or even firing a gun.

But then, this may not be true in other states. Some places require a person to physically go into a firing range and experience using a weapon. They must also learn how to maintain it and keep it safely. They should  abide by laws also. So prior to taking online CCW classes, do your research first. Are these classes accredited in your city? Will your online completion certificate be admissible to the local authorities?

Should You Get A Conceal Handgun Permit Online?

There are some places, filing for a concealed carry permit over the internet is possible. But then, that also means that you must pass the test that the state mandates. If you are not an expert firearm owner, passing that test could be hard. You may either take the test many times or actually experience how to use a weapon prior to applying for a permit.

Do note that not all states offer concealed carry licenses online. Understand for certain if your locality is part of the list that allows online application. If it is, then validate the requirements that you have to submit in order to qualify for the license.

In counties where online permits are offered, the whole process can be as simple as these 4 steps:

  1. File for the permit and cover the necessary fees.
  2. Go through the online training provided.
  3. Ace the exam after completing the training.
  4. Get your certificate.

Although these steps are generally straightforward, you must first know if the permit that you are filing for is truly accredited in your locality. There are dishonest companies over the internet nowadays that lead people into believing that they’ll be getting state licenses, only to receive a useless certification of completion at the end of the course.
