Why Concealed Carry is a Must in This Day and Age
Events of the last few years have truly brought home the need to protect ourselves and our families. Though we respect the job that law enforcement does, they cannot be everywhere, and often arrive too late to prevent a crime or tragedy from happening. This is not to point the blame at anyone, this is simply a matter of fact.
There appear to now be a large number of US citizens who have no respect for our police officers and think nothing of attacking or shooting them. It appears as though we are devolving into the “wild west” days once again. We must do what we can to protect ourselves and our families.
It only takes seconds for a crime to happen, and often the call for help does not go out until after the crisis has occurred. As citizens, we need to be able to protect ourselves and our loved ones and, unfortunately, we cannot always rely on others to do so for us.
For many of us, being left vulnerable in the event of an attack on our person or threat to our property is unacceptable. A concealed carry permit is one of the best ways to provide ourselves with a sense of security and can quite frankly save lives.
Other pros for permitting concealed carry permits:
- deters crime
- provides a sense of security
- could stop or minimize tragedies in public shooting situation
- the constitutional right that citizens be allowed to defend themselves
The second amendment has been argued back and forth in regards to its meaning and how it was intended to be interpreted. We can only guess at what our founding fathers meant at the time, and given the mindset and environment at the time, it is reasonable to assume they meant all citizens had the right to protect and defend themselves. To say that now that we have a sizable full-time military force and widespread policing, does not mean that all of us are adequately protected.
We cannot rely on others, no matter how well-trained, to protect us in times of crisis. We must be permitted to have a choice in whether we would prefer to protect ourselves. After all, who more than you, is going to protect you and yours better?
In times of extreme crisis, citizens are often left to their own devices as police forces are spread thin and covering large areas, and we can be on our own without protection.
Remember that per our own constitution, we have certain inalienable rights. The most important of those being:
Life – we have the right to live and therefore, we have the right to protect our lives against any threat.
Liberty – we are free people, with the freedom to choose our own destinies and the freedom to protect ourselves against those who would take away that freedom.
The pursuit of Happiness – we have the right to seek happiness and for many of us to be happy, we need a certain sense of security, otherwise, we are vulnerable and anxious.
Being able to arm ourselves and have that weapon ready at a moment’s notice, is arguably one of the best ways to protect our rights as citizens.
